Since 1949, The Community Foundation of Warren County has offered a way for people to support the organizations that make Warren County a special place to live. Started with less than $36,600, today the Foundation’s assets exceed $70 million thanks to the generous gifts of many Warren County residents.

In 2017 the Foundation distributed just under $2 million to Warren County non-profit organizations. The recipients include organizations dedicated to the Arts, Education, Communities, Youth/Families, Churches, and Healthcare. Organizations receive distributions from funds established for their benefit through estate gifts; from self-established endowment funds; and from grants awarded by the Foundation.

In addition, for the current academic year the Foundation awarded over $1 million in scholarships to students pursuing degrees at colleges and universities as well as students pursuing certificates at technical schools. Scholarship Recipients attending a school in Pennsylvania were eligible to be considered for PATH matching grants awarded by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA). PATH grants awarded for the current academic year totaled over $270.000.

One significant change for students applying for a scholarship awarded by the Foundation was the move to an online scholarship application. After answering a few qualifying questions, students were able to access all these scholarship programs for which they were eligible to apply.

Warren Gives, the online day of giving event sponsored by the Foundation, continued its growth in 2017, raising $374,001 for 102 local charitable organizations. When the matching funds are considered the event produced $414,001, bringing the five-year total raised to over $1.5 million. This year’s event will be held on May 23rd.

Noticeable changes for the Foundation in 2018 are a new logo and corporate identification. The symbol of a pine cone supported by helping hands sums up the philosophy of the Foundation – to plant many seeds for future growth which allows helping those closest to us, the citizens of Warren County.

The Foundation provides a way for people to support non-profit organizations serving a charitable purpose, now and in the future. By establishing and maintaining funds for the benefit of the Back Pack Program, Kids In Need, and other community concerns the Foundation works toward its goal — to enhance the quality of life in Warren County through philanthropy. The motto –“For Good… Forever” sums it up.
