2023 Celebrate the Season with a Gift That Keeps on Giving

This time of year, our thoughts turn to choosing the perfect gift. But what do you give someone who has everything? Honor that particular person by giving to the Community Foundation of Warren County in his or her name. It’s a gift that truly keeps on giving to non-profit organizations that benefit Warren County’s people. Or consider treating your family to the gift of a new tradition – a new legacy. Give to a fund that supports your family’s charitable interests or establish a new fund that celebrates your new tradition — philanthropy.

Funds established through the Foundation can be tailored to honor donors’ wishes and will ensure prudent investment for growth and the most effective use of the proceeds. This type of giving may also help make the most of new tax law changes by enabling a larger one-time gift to be dispersed at intervals over several years. The Community Foundation makes it easy to find the type of fund that fits your goals for charitable giving. Your tax advisor can provide the best guidance on the timing and size of gifts for maximum tax benefit to you, the donor.

DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS — Recommend grants to the charity or charities that will benefit from the income earned by these funds, and grants will be made to those specific organizations.

DONOR-DESIGNATED FUNDS — Perpetually benefit the charity or charities of your choice. Semi-annual distributions will be made as long as the receiving charitable organization remains in operation. If not, the Board may redirect distributions to a charitable interest that reflects your charitable intentions.

COMMUNITY — This approach allows the local community leaders, who are most aware of the needs in their areas, to provide direction for use of those funds. Several community funds already exist, and more can be established with donor support.

SCHOLARSHIP — Consider a gift to the Community Foundation Scholarship Fund; it provides scholarships to students with financial needs. Or create a scholarship in honor or memory of someone and define guidelines for candidate selection, such as academic achievement, community service, the field of study, or geographical area in the county.

UNRESTRICTED — Consider giving a gift without strings. Unrestricted funds allow current and future Directors of the Foundation to use the money where it’s needed most in Warren County.

ESTATE GIFTS — Support your favorite charities in perpetuity by creating a permanent fund in your estate plan. As the landscape of charitable organizations changes, the Foundation will honor your wishes.

Remember, the joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you. Call, email, or visit us today to plan or make your tax-deductible gift.
